With Velvet you can sell pay-per-view content anywhere you already have an audience. Upload photos, videos or bundles, set a price, and share a single link on social, in DMs or by email: fans pay first, then unlock instantly.
What changes when the link holds the file
01
The file never travels ahead of the payment
A published link shows a blurred preview and a price. The media itself stays in private paid-content storage and is handed over as a short-lived signed URL minted after the purchase clears, so there is no step in the flow where you send something to someone who has not paid.
02
The address you posted keeps working
Velvet copies a link as its id rather than its slug. The id never changes and the slug does, so renaming a link months after you shared it in thirty places breaks none of those posts.
03
A price you quoted is a price you keep
The price pinned into a conversation when you first sent a link does not move when you reprice the link afterwards. A fan quoted eighteen dollars last week still checks out at eighteen, and the new price applies to whoever arrives next.
How PPV links work
Upload your content, give it a title and a price, and Velvet generates a short link with a blurred preview. Share it wherever your fans are: no Velvet account needed to buy.
When a fan pays, the content unlocks immediately in their browser and stays available to them. You see every sale in your dashboard in real time.
What you control
You set the price of every link, choose the preview fans see before paying, and can edit or deactivate a link at any time without breaking the ones already sold.
Optional promotion codes and repricing let you run launches and flash sales without creating anything twice.
Where the file actually lives
Uploads go to a private paid-content bucket that is never publicly readable. A buyer’s browser never receives a permanent address for your media. It receives a signed URL that expires in fifteen minutes and is reissued from their purchase record whenever they come back.
Access is a record, not a link. Velvet checks the buyer’s entitlement against a succeeded purchase before it signs anything, which is why forwarding a URL hands someone an address that has already stopped working.
Editing and retiring a link without breaking a sale
Titles, descriptions, previews and prices stay editable after publication, and sales already made are unaffected. Deleting a link that backs an offer somebody bought archives it instead: the link stops appearing and stops selling, and the people who paid keep what they paid for.
Purchases are listed per link with the split already computed at checkout, so you can read what one specific link earned rather than what your account earned that month.
Getting paid
Each unlock is processed by a secure payment provider and credited straight to your Velvet wallet, itemized per link in your ledger.
Your balance becomes withdrawable 7 days after each sale, so PPV revenue reaches your account on a schedule you set rather than one imposed on you.
How to publish a pay-per-view link
Upload the files to your vault. Until you place them, an upload has no audience: nobody but you can open it.
Create a link and attach the assets. One link carries a single file or a bundle, and each attached asset gets its own blurred preview.
Set the price. Velvet refuses anything between one cent and $4.99, so a priced link is always at least five dollars. Leaving it at zero keeps the link free.
Write the title and the public description, and add a personal note of up to 500 characters if you want one. The landing page shows that note as a short line from you.
Publish. A link is a draft, published or archived, and only a published link can be bought.
Share the address anywhere a URL works. A buyer can check out as a verified guest, so no account signup sits between your post and the sale.

The three questions creators ask about paid links
What stops a buyer from passing the file around?
The media sits in private storage and is served through a signed URL with a fifteen-minute life, minted per request from that buyer’s own entitlement. An address copied out of a browser expires long before it can be shared usefully, and issuing a fresh one requires the purchase record it came from.
What happens to the money between the sale and my balance?
A cleared sale is written to your wallet ledger as a link_purchase entry with the platform commission already deducted at your plan rate. It then sits in the pending reserve for seven days, the window the payment provider allows for refunds and chargebacks, and a job sweeps matured credits into your available balance every fifteen minutes.
Can the same file be in more than one link?
Yes. An asset can sit in several links at different prices and inside different bundles, and detaching it from one leaves the others untouched. What you sell is the link, so one photo set can be a five-dollar teaser in one place and part of a fifty-dollar bundle in another.
Frequently asked questions
Do fans need an account to buy a PPV link?
No. Fans can pay and unlock directly from the link, which keeps conversion high on social platforms and in DMs.
Can I change the price after publishing?
Yes. You can reprice, edit or deactivate a link at any time; fans who already purchased keep their access.
Where can I share PPV links?
Anywhere a link works: social bios, posts, DMs, email or chat. The same link sells everywhere.
Is there a maximum price for a PPV link?
Five hundred dollars. It is the same ceiling that caps any price a closer can be given control of, so a mistyped figure cannot turn into a four-digit charge inside somebody’s conversation.
What happens if I delete a link somebody already bought?
Velvet archives it rather than deleting it. The link stops selling and leaves your public page, and everyone who bought it keeps the access their purchase granted.
How long does a buyer keep access?
A purchase opens an access session that lasts thirty days and re-signs the media each time it is opened. The entitlement behind the session stays on record and issues a fresh one when the buyer returns.
What is the smallest price Velvet will accept?
Five dollars for anything priced at all. Zero stays valid and means the link is not for sale, which is how support links and unfinished drafts are stored. Everything between one cent and $4.99 is rejected by the API rather than merely discouraged in the interface.
