Direct answer
Velvet is worth evaluating as a QG Chatting alternative when the conversation side is already working and the part after "yes" is not. Velvet runs the payment itself: card fields render on the creator's own page through the payment provider's embedded SDK, the provider's postback is signature-checked before any balance moves, earnings clear a 7-day reserve, and withdrawals cost 1.5% with a $1 floor and a $15 cap.
A chat operation is judged on reply time and conversion. Both stop mattering the moment the fan agrees to pay, because from there the outcome depends on a payment path nobody in the conversation controls.
That path is where money is actually lost: a checkout that redirects to a page the fan does not recognise, a payment callback that credits a balance twice, a payout schedule nobody can plan around.
This page describes only Velvet's own path, step by step, so it can be compared against whatever handles payment in your current setup.
The path after the yes
Velvet's side of this table is what its payment code does today. The right column is the question that reveals the same detail about any other setup, whoever supplies it.
| Criteria | Velvet | Ask the other tool |
|---|---|---|
| Where the card number goes | The provider's embedded SDK renders the card fields inside the creator's page. The card number never reaches a form Velvet wrote. | Does the fan get redirected to a domain they have never seen, and who receives the card details? |
| Fallback when a payment fails | A second processor sits behind the first as a configured fallback, so one provider's incident does not close the shop. | Is there a second processor, and does switching to it need an engineer? |
| What a provider callback may change | The signature is verified against the raw request body before any state is written. An unsigned callback changes nothing. | Is the callback signature checked before or after the balance is credited? |
| Who writes the balance | One ledger service performs every wallet and payout mutation, so a credit exists exactly once with an entry behind it. | Can two code paths both add to a balance, and what reconciles them? |
| When the money is spendable | 7 days in the pending reserve, then available. The same window applies to every sale type. | Is the hold a fixed number of days, or a decision made per account? |
| What the withdrawal costs | 1.5%, never below $1, never above $15, on a minimum withdrawal of $50. | Is there a cap? Without one, the fee grows with every good month. |
The fan pays without leaving the page
The payment provider supplies an embedded SDK that renders its own card fields inside the creator's checkout page. There is no redirect to an unfamiliar domain and no Velvet-authored input that ever holds a card number. The fan sees the creator's page from teaser to receipt.
- The amount and currency come from the backend, so a price cannot be edited in the browser before payment.
- A second processor stands behind the first as a fallback, switched on by configuration rather than a code change.
- The receipt returns the fan to the creator's profile, not to a processor's confirmation screen.
A callback that is not signed does nothing
Payment providers confirm a sale by calling back to the platform. That callback is the single most attackable surface in a creator business, because a forged one is free money. Velvet verifies the provider signature against the raw request body first, and only then does a balance move.
- Verification runs on the raw bytes, before parsing, so a re-serialised body cannot slip past the check.
- A verified callback credits through the ledger service and nowhere else.
- A repeated callback for a sale already recorded does not credit it twice.
The seven days between a sale and a payout
Settled earnings enter a pending reserve and become available 7 days later. The reserve is not a cash-flow trick: card payments can be disputed after they settle, and the alternative to a short published hold is an unpublished clawback months afterwards.
- Pending and available balances are shown separately, so the week can be planned before the money moves.
- The window is the same length for a tip, a paid link, a gift and a custom request.
- Chatter commissions are computed from the same settled amount the creator sees, not a separate figure.
A withdrawal fee with a ceiling
Velvet charges 1.5% to move money out, with a floor of $1 and a ceiling of $15, and will not process a withdrawal below $50. The floor exists so a small payout still covers its own processing; the ceiling exists so a good month is not taxed for being a good month.
- On a $200 withdrawal the fee is $3. On a $20,000 withdrawal it is still $15.
- The $50 minimum is set above the $1 fee floor, so the smallest allowed withdrawal always clears its own cost.
- Payouts settle through the provider's mass payment path and are recorded as ledger entries like every other movement.
Questions about the payment path
Does Velvet replace a chatting operation?
No. It owns the part after the conversation: the checkout, the entitlement, the balance and the payout. If your chatters are performing, this page is about what happens to the sales they close.
Why does an on-site card form matter to a creator?
Conversion. A redirect to an unfamiliar domain in the middle of an adult purchase is where fans abandon. The embedded fields keep the purchase on the creator's page while the card details go straight to the provider.
What stops a forged payment notification?
The provider signature, checked against the raw request body before any state is written. A callback that fails the check credits nothing and leaves no balance change to unwind.
Can a sale be credited twice?
Every wallet movement goes through one ledger service, and a repeated provider callback for a sale already recorded does not add a second credit.
Does this page describe QG Chatting's payment setup?
No. It describes Velvet's, in enough detail that you can ask the same six questions of whatever you use now and compare real answers.
Test the checkout before you migrate anything
Open a creator account, publish one paid link and put a real card through it. The path in this page is the path you will see.
